Splint / 夹板
An external support used to limit or guide movement. The correct construction and monitoring depend on the case.
Orthosis / 支具
An externally applied device intended to support, align or influence function. It is not a diagnosis or universal treatment.
External coaptation / 外固定
Support applied outside the body, such as a bandage, splint or cast, selected and monitored for the individual patient.
Padding / 衬垫
Interface material used to manage contact, contour and protection. Padding does not remove the need for fit and skin checks.
Molding / 塑形
Shaping a material to a limb or body contour under controlled professional conditions. It does not replace diagnosis.
Follow-up / 复查
Planned reassessment of the patient and device, including fit, skin, function and changes in the clinical plan.
Common questions
Can a term tell me which product to use?
No. A term helps communication; selection requires clinical assessment, measurements, intended support and monitoring.
Does “custom” mean a guaranteed outcome?
No. Custom measurement can improve the information available for fitting, but it does not guarantee comfort, stability or recovery.
