Custom fit

Thermoplastic splinting uses low-temperature material that softens with heat and molds directly to the patient's limb, producing a fit matched to individual anatomy. Traditional splinting often combines multiple materials that are shaped and secured around the limb, which can be more limited in conforming precisely.

Re-moldability

A key advantage of thermoplastic is re-moldability — it can be re-heated and adjusted as recovery progresses, without discarding and re-making the support. A conventional rigid cast is typically set once and must be replaced to change the fit.

Rigidity & stability

After cooling, thermoplastic hardens into a stable support structure. Both thermoplastic and conventional casts provide rigidity; the difference is the ability to re-form and refine the fit during recovery.
